Jackson Yacht Club is a member of the Gulf Yachting Association which is an association of about 35 yacht clubs along the arc of the Gulf of Mexico US coastline from Galveston Bay in Texas to Sarasota, Florida.  The GYA fosters the sport of yacht racing in the region and organizes interclub and individual regattas throughout each year.  Regattas are open to all members of GYA Member Clubs and include boats as small as Optis to yachts as large as 50 feet or more.  The signature event is a 12 regatta annual series for the Capdevielle Trophy which includes the over 100 year old Sir Thomas Lipton Challenge Cup Regatta.  The GYA is not about just sailing, however.  Member privileges are extended by each member club to all members of every other member club in the association.  Visiting some of these other yacht clubs is a great experience!
